It is time to reflect and think about what we together achieved. It was an epic event.
A month has passed now and looking back, it was a successful 4 days on the bike. There were about 150 of us passing through every county in Munster. We would arrive in force through villages, towns and cities, turning heads as we would go. Local Down Syndrome Chapters would be on the street, purple and silver balloons in hand, banners and flags, bunting and noise makers. All cheering us on as we rode through, shaking buckets to those who saw us, encouraging them to add to the growing pot of funds we were raising on the way. In some Larger towns, the Mayor would be there. Applauding us for our efforts, highlighting how much we helped the local Down Syndrome Chapter. We would also be treated to dances by the kids we are helping, they would read poems or speeches they wrote, thanking us for our help. Showing us in real time just how effective the care we are able to pay for them has benefited their lives. I can tell you honestly, there were many a tear. Both of gratitude and of pride for what can be achieved.

The cycling was tough this year. We had to battle heavy blustery gusting winds the first three days and we fought the wind and rain up the Conor Pass before descending into Dingle. The cycle up Molls Gap was a challenge again as well with the weather. Once we arrived in Kenmare at the close of the third day, The sun mostly graced us for the balance of the tour. Staging at the bottom of Patrick's Hill, you cannot help but feel the nerves as you look at that steep vaunted climb. Knowing that you have people there cheering you on, gives you wings as you climb. Those hugs you get at the top of the hill from your supporters and those who you are helping...is priceless.
