Blanket
First Snow - Dorcas Bay - Lake Huron - Tobermory - Ontario
it is over,
the sun emerges from it’s hiding spot,
high above the angry clouds.
bathing everything,
in a warming calm light.
crusted soft ivory icing,
smothered deluge.
pure snow,
drowning the shores,
exposed wind swept lake.
tall pines and cedars
struggle,
bending,
creaking,
carrying their weight.
at their feet
a silent blanket,
carved in mounds and grooves.
etched evidence to the rage,
the fury of winds that followed,
after the sky ,
ever burdened,
emptied itself,
onto the world below.
it is over,
from underneath,
from inside,
they emerge.
basking in the warming peeking light
absorbing
natures new dress
