if you do not want a slideshow, leave slideshow set at no slideshow and slideshow position at none.

If Publish is visible beside the listing for your web page in the button row on the right, the page is not "public" yet. To make it live press publish. When you publish a nav head type page all sub pages will also be published that have been made live or active on the site. This way you can work on a whole topic category or navigation group at once. "publishing" all the sub pages first. These will be hidden until you publish the one in the hierarchy above it. When you are ready, publish the lot by publishing the topmost unpublished page.
If it says Hide beside the listing for your web page, it is published and will be live on the site if all the hierarchy above it is published. To hide an individual page press hide beside that page listing. If there are sub pages below that page, they will be hidden as well. (yet still say published in the listing).To make them all live again, Just hit publish on the top most main category/topic page.
