today i met a bird
she landed on my window

she cocked her head at me
I'm certain as can be
she looked me in the eye
and smiled so

she smiled at me
my heart went boom
inside my soul

a broken man
i was
just became
whole

she flew into the room
and landed on my knee
i looked her in the eyes
how they sparkled
she slid her little legs
she stretched her little wings
settled down and laid in my lap now

she stayed with me
she filled my house
with the warmth of her soul

a solo man
i was

alone

she jumped into my hand
and clutched it with her feet
flapped her little wings
made me stand now
she flew around my head
and underneath my arms
they we were
all silly
laughing

were filled

my creaky ole bones
came back
to life

she flew around the room
landed on the sill
with a nod of her head
flew out the window
i ran over to see
her flying all so free
into the sky so blue now
