Pastels and crayons do make paintings

Having had the good fortune of being taught by artist Robert Bateman and art historian Birget Berry while at Lord Elgin High School i was inspired by the works of William Kurelek, an artist whom used anything to create paintings. These are a salute to him and the impressionists of France.  I am based in Cork Ireland as a freelance artist. Feel free to contact me if you are a looking to commision a painting or would like to own one of these

Buck Lake Road

Buck Lake Road

It was one of those wonderful fall days when the woods smelled of leaves. The sun was nice and warm. The wind still,  the air fresh and crisp. This pastel is about vanishing perspective and suggesting leaves in an impressionistic style.

Spun and Spinning

Spun and Spinning-original painting using wax pastels and crayons by cork artist, web site designer and developer

Totally spinned and completely spun, what happened to my head?

This started as an urge and an eliptic line. What came out was spontaneous. I was a more of a spectator on this one.

It reminds me of something, i am just not sure what! Is it me?

Oil Pastel on wood

Ever had the courage to let go and see what happens? This is one of those moments.I have no idea why i drew this, it just came out of me. To be real honest it kinda scared me as i did it. The little "hat" on top was strongly telling me Africa leopard skin and i am not sure if there is a second figure peeking out of it or that is a two headed being
