Illustrations in color utilizing magic markers

I love magic markers. They travel easily and when used in layers can build up luminous color. I am based in Cork Ireland as a freelance artist. Feel free to contact me if you are a looking for someone to illustrate that novel, new album T-Shirt or use nice images on your website

Christmas can be tiring.

Michelle two ells fell asleep on her mothers couch christmas day after opening her presents and i took the opportunity to draw her as she napped.

The focus was to use muted strength marker to build up an image that allowed for the illusion of light cascading over her and the couch while reflecting glint like in the picture frame

Marker and ink on paper

I worked as a chef for a good portion of my life. The "paint pots" are actually spices and herbs. they were my palette for cooking. In the back spash i replaced the gas pipes for guitar strings and the back itself a fret board. I felt i cretaed art and music while i cooked.

Jacques Israelivitch

Done while at the Toronto Symphony

I got in a bit of trouble doing this image. I was sitting in the front row of the theatre with my sister and niece watching the symphony doing a bit of Beethoven i think. Jacques Israelivitch was the soloist at this time. He normally is the lead violinist. During the Intermission, an attendent came up to me and told me i would no longer be able to draw while the performance was on. I had made the soloist uncomfortable and the subject of too close a scrutiny. This made my sister laugh and niece snicker through out the second half. I smiled benusedly at Jacques who would not dare look my way.

Dusk and Light

Again developing a style utilizing cross hatches and markers i did this study of the little sunbeam mixer i used to make Tiramisu. It was done during my stint as a chef at Ciccones. An italian restaurant in the heart of the Fashion District on King st west in Toronto

Water laps as the sun sets

while on canoe trip to Algonquin park

Every year i would pack up a canoe and go deep into the northern ontario woods of Algonquin park. This particular year i travelled with my friend Bruce. we had paddled in three days away from roads and other people, portaging as we went. This is the camp we made for a couple of days to enjoy the spoils of our work lugging all that weight over rock and across water. In this study i am once again i am trying to get that elusive light vs water transformation dance that occurs at sunset

Phunky phone

You do not see many of these any more

This beaten and battered phone was the very one i made my orders from and took calls from while working in the kitchen at Ciccones, an italian restaurant in the fashion district of Toronto

The Royal Canadian Branch 360, 326 Queen St West Toronto

The Royal Canadian Branch 360, 326 Queen St West Toronto was home to many of the music crowd on Toronto's hip street. This is an attempt to be "photo realistic in a sepia". The goal was to capture the muted tones away from light sources yet highlight the brightness of it at it's source
